THIS refers to the news item `Drive to achieve 100pc primary school enrolment by 2018` (March 8). Building castles in the air has become a norm for successive governments.
Having ambitions should not be discouraged, but having impracticable dreams is something that makes one a laughing stock. How does the government bring the 2.5million out-of-school children into schools? In a country where there are thousands of ghost schools and absenteeism has become the order of the day, materialising the goal of 100pc enrollment is just next to impossible.
The government should figure out the bottlenecks which keep children away from schools and take steps to make a difference to the enrolment index.
