FAISALABAD: A fivemember police committee, headed by the senior superintendent of police (investigations), has been constituted to investigate the alleged child abuse cases registered with the Tarkhani police.

Addressing a press conference at the Police Lines on Sunday, City Police Of ficer Azhar Akram said four cases had been registered with the Tarkhani police during the last couple of days and five suspects had been taken into custody.

He said the committee would investigate thecases on scientific basis and the citizens had been assured for protection of their children.

Mr Akram said four cases had been registered so far and number of rape victims could increase following the investigation.

The SHO women police visited Chak 222-GB along with policemen and assured the parents that the police would cooperate with them, he said and added that he had held meeting with the villagers in a mosque and urged them to expose the culprits. Staff Correspondent
