Pakistani Gitmo?

2015-06-26
THE front page of Dawn (June 14) carried a picture showing security forces in Quetta making a few individuals kneel in an uncomfortable position against a wall.

The description under the picture says the forces are doing this as part of a search operation af ter a bomb blast in a barber shop. This behaviour by the security forces is undignified. They are doing injustice to their uniform. Do they think that the terrorists who caused the explosion would have waited around for the security forces to arrive? Almost certainly, the kneeling individuals in the picture had nothing to do with the blast.

This picture reminded me of the pictures that had emerged out of Guantanamo Bay detention centre in the wake of the Sept 11 tragedy. No fair-minded American is proud of those pictures, and no Pakistani should be proud of this picture.
