LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday gave last opportunity to PML-N MPA Ilyas Ahmad Chinioti to file a reply to a petition seeking his disqualification under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

A voter of PP-73, Chiniot, Haroon Malik, filed the petition and contended that the MPA of the ruling party was running a private college on a land allocated for a religious seminary. He said the MPA was also utilising a commercial connection of electricity for agricultural purpose and Fesco had also fined him for the violation.

For these grounds, the petitioner said, the respondent MPA did not meet the criteria prescribed in articles 62 of 63 of the Constitution for an assembly member.

Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan had issued several notices to the MPA, however he did not turn up. On Wednesday, the judge was told that the MPA was out of the country. The judge gave a last chance to Chinioti for submitting his reply by June 4.-Staff Reporter
