LAHORE: An alleged robber was killed while his accomplice escaped during a `shootout` with the police after a street crime incident in E-Block, Gulshan Ravi, on Wednesday, police said.

Two gunmen on a motorcycle snatched Rs45,000 and a watch from Tanveer and escaped. Tanveer alerted Rescue 15 police around 2:45pm. The Gulshan Ravi patrolling police spotted the motorcyclists near Niazi Adda around 3:30pm and signalled them to stop.

The motorcyclists opened fire at police officials forcing them to take cover and retaliate by firing. The crossfire left one of the suspects dead and the other managed to run away Police seized the looted valuables, a motorcycle and a weapon left by the fleeing suspect.
