Teacher beats girl student, breaks her three teeth

BAHAWALNAGAR: A primary schoolteacher allegedly broke the three front teeth of a class three girl on Thursday for not learning lesson in the Government Primary School, Chak 336-HR, a suburban area of Marrot in Tehsil Fort Abbas.

Ghulam Husain, the father of Sehar, told the Marot Police that teacher Shehzad Ali tortured his seven-year-old daughter severely.

`The teacher first slapped the minor in the face and then hit her with a wooden stick repeatedly, due to which she fell on a charpoy,` Mr Hussain said. Three of her teeth were broken; two fell on the floor of the classroom while one was swallowed by her.

`People in this backward area of Cholistan rarely send their chil-dren, especially the girls, to schools and such incidents will simply discourage them,` he feared.

The girl was admitted to the Marot Rural Health Centre for treatment.

SEALED: The Pageerwali police sealed on Thursday a private grain market -Moon Associates -on its opening day in Chak 124-6R, and booked its operator Ziaullah on Thursday Police said Mr Moon, of Haroonabad, had established the grain market over 25 acres in Chak 124-6R without the approval of the market committee of fice.

Investigation Officer Rafaqat Ali said that Mr Moon had also hoisted banners and hoardings about the market in the city. The market committee in charge said Mr Moon had f ailed to produce the approval letter.

According to the deputy commis-sioner office, the land where the market was established did not belong to Mr Moon.

Mr Moon alleged that the officials, in connivance with his rivals, thwarted the opening ceremony of the market. He alleged that his rivals had paid Rs10 million as bribe to the district administration.

CRASH: A motorcyclist died while another was injured after a sheesham tree fell on them during a windstorm in Mandi Sadiq Ganj on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 sources said Muhammad Yaseen and Nazir were riding the motorcycle when near Mandi Sadiq Ganj, the tree fell on them, leaving them injured.

They were rushed to a local rural health centre where Yaseen breathed his last while Nazir was referred to the Bahawalnagar District Headquarters Hospital.
