GUJRAT: As many as 12 female students suffered injuries when a bus of the University of Gujrat overturned on GT Road near GTS Chowk on Thursday.

A Rescue 1122 of ficial said the bus picked up students at Hafiz Hayat campus and was in its way towards Wazirabad side when it overturned in front of a petrol pump, leaving 12 students injured.

He said some of them were provided with first aid whereas the critically injured were shif ted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital.

In April, an official of the varsity riding a motorbike had been crushed by a bus of the UoG when two drivers [of university buses] were racing their vehicles.

The UoG administration had a case registered against its driver for the killing of one of its officials.

The parents and students have urged the [UoG] administration to take measures to make the transport crew behave responsibly.
