Ayub backs Africans

2015-10-16
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan would never recognise white minority rule in Rhodesia because a unilateral declaration of independence by the present Government of Rhodesia in order to perpetuate white minority rule over African population can have no validity whatsoever. This emphatic declaration was made by President Ayub today [Oct 15] in the course of a statement.

The President said the Pakistan Government received with deep concern the news of failure of the recent talks on Rhodesia in London and the threatened unilateral declaration of independence by the present minority Government of Rhodesia. The Pakistan Government strongly condemns this crude attempt at racial domination. The Rhodesian Government must know that the Afro-Asian community would never tolerate it and the consequences of the course on which it is bent could be disastrous, President Ayub Khan added. Special Representative [Meanwhile,] Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan in her message on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the death of her illustrious husband, Quaid-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, has said: `In these hours of Pakistan`s trial and tribulation, and on this anniversary of the death of the Quaidi-Millat, Liaquat`s last dying words echo solemnly and prophetically through our hearts and prayers May Allah protect Pakistan.
