APROPOS the letter `Govt pensioners` (April 16). A substantial increase in the pension of retired government servants is overdue in view of the rapid increase in inflation.
It may be appropriate to adopt the price index formula as once tried and tested by late Dr Mehboob-ul-Haq, the legendary economist and one-time finance minister.
Old pensioners deserve a special consideration as their health problems get compounded with every passing day.
