THE province-wise crackdown on adulterated food in Punjab and on institutions selling fake medicines, eateries and dens by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) is commendable.
For the first time, the people`s interests have been taken into consideration. Citizens had been eating unhygienic things for ages.
Even dead animal meat and that of pigs had been consumed. The traders dealing in `haram` and adulterated food have suddenly been brought under the law. Eateries, bakeries and shops are being sealed.
What surprises me is that none of the shops or vendors of dead chicken meat has come under the whip of the government. Are we saying that dead chicken is not haram and that dead chicken is consumable? While Ms Ayesha Mumtaz of the Punjab Food Authority is doing a good job, let her also put her foot down on dead-chicken sellers.
