A FEW days back I was travelling on N-5 National Highway from Okara to Sahiwal with my family. Suddenly we realised that three men on a motorbike, with one of them having a pistol in his hand, were trying to stop another motorcyclist. Realising the possible danger, we did not stop the car.
When we crossed them, I called 15, but after attending the call no one spoke on the other end. Then our driver also dialled 15 from his mobile, someone spolce from the other side and our driver told him about the armed men on the bike and the location of the incident. The reply from the other side was that they should contact the relevant police station as it was not their jurisdiction.
I was surprised at the answer. How can one know a random contact number of a police station in emergency while travelling? It is the duty of the 15 service to contact the relevant police station during an emergency.
Theironyis thatthisincidenthappened during the day. This means that our main roads are not safe even in daylight. I request the relevant athorities to pay attention to the standard of 15 service and to the improvement of security on main roads.
