Transformers theft renders Khangah Dogran areas powerless

S H E I K H U P U R A : Various localities of Khangah Dogran plunged into darkness after two 220-kilovolt (kV) transformers were allegedly stolen on Friday night.
Power could not be restored till the filing of this report on Saturday afternoon.
Residents of Pir Masoom Shah Road, Lahore Road, Madina Town and various other areas protested against the negligence of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) in front of the local press club.
The protesters` leader, Waqas Afzal Khokhar, told the media that the department concerned was demanding bribe to re-install the transformers that were allegedly stolen by some employ-ees of the department itself.
He demanded the Wapda chairman intervene and take stern action against the thieves. He said they had identified the suspects to the Khangah Dogran sub-divisional of ficer.
ROBBERY: Suspected thieves took away electronic goods worth Rs2.5 million after breaking into three shops in Kot Abdul Malik town in wee hours of Saturday.
The thieves broke into the shops after cutting the locks with a mini saw. These shops were located just a few yards from the Factory Area police station. On the report of shopkeepers Nadeem, Anwar and Usman, police started an investigation. -Correspondent
