Commercial construction banned on 16 roads

FAISALABAD: The district administration has banned all sorts of commercial construction along 16 roads without obtaining permission of the high level design committee.
This was decided in the meeting of the committee which notified the roads where approval for design and map must be obtained for the construction of commercial business buildings.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali said the roads notified by the committee included Baba Tika Road, Lahore Lyceum to NFC College, Faisalabad Road Larri Adda to Tanki Chowk/Milad Road, Lahore Road, Lahore Mor to 240 Mor, Jaranwala Khurrianwala Road, Ramzan Bazaar to Ghazi Chowk in Muncipal Committee, Jaranwala, while JhumraKhurrianwalaRoad,Jhumra Road, Main Adda Chowk to MC Khurianwala, Sheikhupura RoadAdda Chowk to MC in Khurrianwala, Sangla Hill Road, Khurrainwala Road and Chiniot Road up to Thana Chowk to limits of MC Chak Jhumra, Quaid-i-Aza m Road Bangla Chowk to MC Of fice Tandlianwala Road in MC Tandlianwala, Gojra Road Canal bridge Chowk to MC limits Gojra Road, Faisalabad Road College Chowk to MC limit Samundri, Main Road Gulistan Colony, Danish Marriage Hall to Awan Chowk, Ideal Sweet Road to Wakeel Chowk Raja Road, Jinnah Colony Road Ideal Sweets Jinnah Colony to BC tower Chowk, Guru Nanak Pura Road Chowk to Baghdadi Park Gulberg Road in Faisalabad Development Authority limits-and Sadar Bazaar Road Farzand Hotel to Gole Masjid GM Abad and Bypass Road around the Faisalabad city in the limit of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA).
The DC said the high level design committee had also decided to accommodate 500 square foot park-ing space for a commercial building to address growing parking problems. He said efforts would also be made to preserve the beauty of the eight bazaars around Clock Tower.
ROBBER KILLED: An alleged robber was killed while two passersby sustained injuries during a robbery bid in the remit of Batala Colony police on Friday night.
Police said a Dolphin team, during patrolling, intercepted two suspected bike riders at Muhammadi Chowk in the limit of Batala Colony police. Seeing the police, the bikers tried to escape.
When the Dolphin squad chased them, they entered a narrow street and opened fire which was returned.
During the exchange of fire, one of the robbers sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot while the other managed to escape.
Police said two passersby also sustained injuries in firing by the alleged robbers. Both of them were out of danger, the police said.
