OKARA: A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly desecrating the dead body of a woman after digging her grave at Mauza Joyia village graveyard, some 30km away from the city, on Jandraka Road.

As per the FIR got registered by thedead woman`s husband, Allah Ditta, of Moza Joyia village, his wife Bashiran Bibi died a week ago. The complainant said during his visits to her grave, he noticed that it had been dug.

He said he brought the matter into the nodce of the gravediggers living near the graveyard, who started keeping a watch in the night.

On Friday night, the gravediggerssaw a local, Ashraf, digging the grave and desecrating the woman`s dead body in the grave.

Allah Ditta reported the matter to the police and got a case registered against the suspect at Ravi police station under sections 297 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The police claimed to have arrested the suspect.
